Jessica Alba has been papped out and about in LA sporting a new style. The starlet has swapped her usual safe pumps for a braver, bolder choice – a pair of Cherry Red Dr Martens. Normally a favourite reserved for edgier celebs such as Agyness Deyn, these boots add a tough edge to a simplistic daytime look. Since 1960 Dr Marten’s have represented alternative fashion in all its guises, from Mod to Punk, Factory Worker to Brit Popper these boots have always meant business. Now being spotted on more A-List celebs than you can count, could this spurn an alternative breed of footwear for festival season? Maybe it’s time to ditch your wellies and do up your laces…

Once upon a time it was extremely un-cool to pair socks and sandals together…. not anymore! (The fashion Gods like to play these tricks with us you see). Teaming your socks with shoes was a styling trick used by designers this season which has slowly become a trend of its own. On the catwalks Burberry Prorsum produced our favourite look by adding grey ankle socks to their tube knot sandals. On the streets celebrities are also embracing the trend; Alexa Chung, Fearne Cotton and Chloë Sevigny have all been spotted out and about with their socks on full display. Our favourite socks are at Dorothy Perkins where there is great range of prints and styles. A great way to update a look and keep those toes warm till summer.

We’ve been loving studded shoes for quite some time now (you may recall our recent Louise Goldin for Topshop excitement as just one example), but it’s not often we find a pair of really, really hot shoes for under £20.  That would be like doing the impossible.

Somehow, we’ve managed to find such a thing.  These ‘Rascal Rapture’ court shoes have a suede look finish, trendy studding on the heel and the best part is they have been marked down from £35 to just £18.  We have Shudoo’s amazing sale section to thank for this – cheers Shudoo!

Another week, another weird shoe.  We’ve managed to find this space-looking rubber wedge sandal just in time for our Editor’s beach holiday – but whether they will find themselves on the ‘Must Pack’ list is questionable.

Melissa has been gathering the fashion column inches in recent years with their eco-friendly vegan shoes and the collaboration with Vivienne Westwood on several designs have proven extremely popular.

But this design with Zaha Hadid… well, they’re another story altogether.  What do you think of them?

Hot on the *ahem* heels of their winning collaboration with high street store H&M,  the people at Jimmy Choo have been quick to pair up with another brand – this time, Ugg Australia.  The luxury shoe label will launch an ‘Ugg & Jimmy Choo’ capsule collection, which will centre around the sheepskin footwear classic, but obviously with a distinctly Choo-twist.

Jimmy Choo President Tamara Mellon is apparently a huge fan, stating that “other than Jimmy Choo, Ugg Australia is the only other footwear I have in my wardrobe.”

We’re intrigued as to what they will come up with – Uggs with heels?  With a peep toe?  Sparkly wool?  All will be revealed in October, when the collection is released in store and online.

We must admit to our great love for Opening Ceremony (especially when style icon Chloe Sevigny is involved with their own label) but these clog-like heels have thrown us for a loop.  Are they so avant-garde they’re chic or so weird they’re… just weird, full stop?

They might be something kooky young Chloe could make cool, but on us, we fear we’d wind up looking like a kid who’d stepped out in our mum’s shoes.  What do you reckon?

Oh my, does Louise Goldin have a treat in store for us.  Her debut shoe collection for Topshop has got fashionistas in the UK and beyond all in a flurry – and from the evidence above, it’s not hard to see why.

These studded and spiked heels in black, baby pink and cream form part of the collection and will be available in stores and online from February 5.  We can imagine there will be a frenzy to nab a pair of these, so don’t worry, we’ll remind you again closer to the time!

With the Arctic blast we’ve been having lately, it’s hard to avoid the snow, sleet and ice that are now lining roads, footpaths and doorsteps all around the country.  We’ve witnessed a few skates and slips (and know we’ve had a few near-misses of our own), so in order to avoid a broken wrist, bruised behind and/or a bruised ego, we’d advise you pop on a pair of snow boots to keep your feet dry and toasty warm, while also ensuring your feet stay firmly planted on the ground.

We think these pink Snowjoggers are pretty fun… and with 50% off their pricetag, for some reason we like them even more!  The faux fur-lined Barts snow boots from John Lewis are so snow-appropriate it’s silly – we’re not sure we’d want to take them off even when we move indoors.

As soon as we spotted these fabulous Minimarket wedge ankle boots on one of our favourite bloggers (Carolina of Fashion Squad), we knew we’d do whatever it took to get our hands on them.  Unfortunately, we couldn’t find them on the Minimarket site (do they even deliver to the UK?), so you can only imagine our joy at seeing them make an appearance on My-Wardrobe.com!

They are timeless, trendy and futuristic all at the same time – and how many shoes can you say that about?  We would be wearing ours with black jeans, cocktail dresses, woolly tights, shiny leggings… you get the picture.  Everything.  That is, if our size hadn’t already sold out!  Please restock My-Wardrobe – we beg of you.  For those lucky enough to be a size 38 or 39, you can pick them up here.
